We are thrilled to congratulate Lachlan McGrigor and Jamie Crisp, the latest recipients of the £20,000 Alumni Innovation Award. These awards were created to support entrepreneurial students and researchers at the University of Bath in developing their business ideas and bringing them to market.

Lachlan, a former Canada U20 rugby player and final year Management with Marketing student at the University of Bath, co-founded Framesports to provide rugby teams with professional-grade analytic tools they deserve. The development of Framesports came about during Lachlan’s time on pitch, seeing first-hand what teams need on the pitch and the lack of sport analytics tools for rugby players. Framesports sets out to provide rugby teams of all sizes and levels access to the kind of data that will help them win games.

Lachlan explains how the award will make a difference for him:

I am absolutely delighted to have won the Alumni Innovation Award. This recognition has given me the confidence and ability to pursue Framesports full-time. I look forward to further developing my business and entrepreneurial skills. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Enterprise Bath for their continuous support throughout my entrepreneurial journey.

Jamie, final year Physics with Astrophysics student, has developed an innovative booking system for harbours and marinas. Moored Solutions provides boat owners peace of mind with its online system of reserving and paying for spaces in harbours and marinas. This system aims to reduce costs and save time for operators while providing ease and convenience for boat owners.

I'm honoured to receive the Alumni Innovation Award and grateful for the support I've had from the University of Bath throughout my time as a student. I'm excited to now work with SETsquared Bath as I continue to develop Moored Solutions and take the next steps in my entrepreneurial journey.

Alumni Innovation Awards aim to encourage a culture of change across the University of Bath and encouraging aspiring entrepreneurial students to see entrepreneurship as a clear and viable career choice.
